   ViNE Auto Provisioning System

APS

A critical requirement is for CPE equipment to immediately and seamlessly integrate into the customer's premises and onto the service provider network. Dataflex has developed such a system that enables ViNE units to be automatically and remotely configured, with network and user specific data, on installation and without the intervention of the end user.

The Dataflex APS consists of two main parts:

  • Configuration management platform (CMP) and
  • a plug and play device ViNE.

A third part, that of the network, is not under the control of Dataflex and may include intermediate firewalls, NAT devices, routers, switches and other network entities that restrict the type of traffic or functionality that may be used to provision a new device.

To avoid many of these network restrictions and make the implementation of a Dataflex APS as painless as possible for the customer, Dataflex has opted for a web based CMP.

Using http as the transfer protocol and initiating the auto-provisioning process from the ViNE itself means the system can be hosted in almost any location and over most networks.

  • Fully automated "plug and play" installation solution for the ViNE IADs
  • Common solution using standard tools (future-proof compatibility)
  • Simple Process:
    • each unit is pre-programmed with a default config, generic username & password for the IP network
    • each unit also has its own unique identifiers as the MAC address and Electronic Serial Number (ESN)
    • unit is sent to the end user who connects it to the IP connections
    • upon connection the DSL is trained and an IP session is established
    • unit connects to a central provisioning server and uploads the relevant configuration file based on its unique MAC address
    • transparent to the end user
  • Auto-provisioning solution "in a box“ or option to interface to an existing management system
  • Works with all product variants (either SIP or MGCP etc.)
  • XML interface or .csv file input.
